City development

Many indicators show that Erpel was bound to be a city. However, it never claimed city rights. Until 1803 Erpel had an independent mayor's office, whose jurisdiction included the villages of Erpel, Bruchhausen, Heister, Nieder-Kasbach, and Orsberg.

New framework built in traditional style

Numerous tutor style houses can be found within the half circular city wall. A sequence of frugal houses tells the story of the village character of the community.
