Grotto of St. Mary
Before moving on towards Orsberg or the Erpeler Ley you should miss taking a little detour to the "Mariengrotte".
It lies east of the railroad tracks right next to a pedestrian path, which leads to the higher part of Erpel via a long stretch of stairs.
This Mary memorial was built as a thank you for providing shelter during the bombing raids during WW II.
Between 1939 and
1945 the grotto was used as a shelter for the village community.
